Skye Hospitality was founded in 1995 by James Dresher, a successful and well-respected restaurateur with over 23 years of experience. While searching for a new restaurant site, Mr. Dresher discovered a premier site for a hotel, acquired the site, and started the development process. While Mr. Dresher was well accomplished in the restaurant industry, he knew during the company's infancy that he did not have the expertise to operate a hotel. Mr. Dresher then met J. William Bello, a Marriott veteran with over 25 years of hospitality experience. The seed was planted for a lasting partnership that has been the core of Skye Hospitality's success.

Our first hotel, the Hampton Inn Baltimore White Marsh opened in 1997. The hotel was an instant success and quickly won numerous awards from Hilton and rave reviews from our guests. The need for a second hotel in White Marsh was clear. The Hilton Garden Inn Baltimore White Marsh was then developed in 1999. With this solid addition to the portfolio, Skye Hospitality then partnered with The Mills Corporation in the summer of 2000 and acquired a site for two hotels. The Hampton Inn & Suites Arundel Mills was built in 2002 followed by The Residence Inn by Marriott Arundel Mills and the Residence Inn by Marriott Baltimore White Marsh in 2003.

As these properties continued to outperform their competitive set and win accolades from their respected brands, Skye looked for it's next opportunity and developed the SpringHill Suites by Marriott Arundel Mills BWI and the Hampton Inn Baltimore Downtown / Convention Center in 2006. Seeing additional demand in both White Marsh and Arundel Mills, the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Baltimore White Marsh and the TownePlace Suites by Marriott Arundel Mills were developed in 2008. Our latest addition to the portfolio occurred in 2009 with the development of the new Residence Inn by Marriott Baltimore Hunt Valley.
